If you are seeking specialized vein treatment in the Greensboro or Winston-Salem areas, then Carolina Vein & Laser Specialists has your answer. We have two vein specialists with 20 years combined vein treatment and leg pain management experience. We offer all the latest, minimally-invasive vein treatment options to eliminate your varicose veins spider veins, or other vein disorders.
Both our Greensboro & Winston-Salem facilities offer all of the most advanced vein treatment options:
Group Duplex Ultrasound
Non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound is often used to visualize the veins below the surface of the skin and the blood flow within them. By doing so, your vein doctor can determine any flow abnormalities and the extent of any vein disease. Duplex ultrasound is painless and involves the gentle scanning of the leg along the surface of the skin.
Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT®)
Endovenous laser treatment (called EVLT®, EVLA, ELVeS or EVL) has become an excellent replacement to the classical vein surgey (ligation & stripping). Using just a small laser fiber inserted through a small nick in the skin, laser energy is directed inside the vein and into the vein wall, causing it to collapse and seal shut. EVLT is performed in the office using local anesthesia and patients are usually walking immediately afterward. A compression stocking is commonly used for a week or more afterward to minimize any bruising or pain and patients are able to resume normal activity almost immediately.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy uses tiny needle punctures to directly remove varicose veins through the skin. Ambulatory Phlebectomy only requires local anesthesia and leaves virtually no scarring.
Sclerotherapy involves the injection of small amount of chemical solution through a tiny needle directly into the faulty vein. The chemical irritates the vein wall, causing it to close and eliminate trapped blood. Sclerotherapy is commonly considered the gold-standard for spider vein treatment and has been in use for many years. In the hands of a trained vein specialist, it is generally a safe and effective vein treatment. Depending on the extent of veins treated, multiple sclerotherapy sessions may be needed to achieve full clearance.
For veins not visible on the surface of the skin, ultrasound may be used to guide the needle into the target vein and visualize treatment. Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is often used for reticular or feeder veins.
Transdermal Laser / Intense Pulsed Light
Transdermal Laser or Intense Pulsed Light-based treatments can be used to treat much smaller, broken blood vessels found on the face, legs and elsewhere. Transdermal laser can be used alone or in conjunction with sclerotherapy as an adjunct for small leg vein treatment.
